    Quizon nabs silver, placed second

    Manila,Philippines---"Super Kid" Daniel Quizon of Dasmariñas City came in second place in the boys 18 years old and under division, Standard event at the close of Asian Youth Chess Championship held at the Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand Monday night.

    Supported by Dasmariñas City, Cavite mayor Elpidio "Pidi" Barzaga Jr. and congresswoman Jenny Barzaga, Quizon toppled Candidate Master Le Minh Hoang of Vietnam in the ninth and final round.

    The 13-year-old Quizon collected 6.5 points on five wins, three draws and one loss to bag the runner-up honor and won the silver medal in the nine-round tournament. -Marlon Bernardino-
