GRANDMASTER elect Ronald Dableo played GM Darwin Laylo to a draw to rule the 2nd Red Kings Chess Tournament Open individual event Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the Colegio de San Juan de, Letran Gymnasium, (College Gym) in Intramuros, M a n i l a.

Dableo, coach of University of Sto. Tomas chess team and one of the top players of Philippine Army Chess Team finished undefeated in seven games of play with six wins and a draw to received the top prize of P8,000 to tournament organizer Fide Master Nelson "Elo" Mariano II during the closing rites .

Laylo, on the other hand, coach of Ateneo de Manila University chess team and also a member of the Philippine Army Chess Team finished with 6.0 points, the same score of IM Joel Pimentel,  NM Alcon John Datu and Guadalupe chess club blitz king Sherwin Tiu.

Cebu native Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano, playing for the Far Eastern University chess team, meantime tallied 5.0 points to win the top College award plum.

Other adjudged category winners are 7-years-old Al-Basher Buto (youngest participant), Justine Diego Mordido (top 14-years-old and below), Kylen Joy Mordido (top lady) and Mark Christian Daluz (top letranista).-Marlon Bernardino-
