The Maravril Enterprise Team B stole the limelight by winning the 2nd Chessmates Dos Por Dos Dalawahan 2000 Chess Team Tournament last October 22,2017 at the Alphaland Southgate Mall Magallanes, Makati City.
With Fide Master Christopher Castellano and Engineer Benjie Esquejo at the helm, Maravril chess team backed up by Capt. Melvin Duay won the title with 11 game points output in the event organized by New Jersey-based US master Arthur Macaspac.
In the final round, Maravril chess team beat Makati Hope Christian School, 2-0, to went home the top prize of P10,000 plus elegant trophy.
FM Castellano defeated Narcisco Gumila Jr. in their top board encounter while Engr. Esquejo beat Marquel Soria in their lower board skirmish.
Team Orbe B led by Ricardo Batcho and Don Hamilton Arias finished second place with a higher tie break points to fellow 10.5 points marker Team Cute Cute of Jan Roldan Oriendo and Michael Angelo Angeles.
Tied for fourth to sixth placers after tallying identical 10.0 game points are Team Dumadag B of Lourecel Ecot and Genghis Imperial; Gainsfiled Chess Team of Alvin Roma and Enrique David II and DMJR of Raffy Lobitana and Domingo Libay. (Marlon Bernardino)
San Martin De Porres Chess Festival set
ALL systems go for the Barangay San Martin De Porres Chess Festival dubbed as sportsman Melecio C. Advincula III Chess Cup on November 4, 2017 (Saturday) at the Barangay San Martin De Porres, Barangay Hall, Cubao, Quezon City.
Melecio C. Advincula III , a well known supporter of the youth said, the one day chess event coincide the celebration of feast of Barangay San Martin De Porres which aims to provide an avenue for aspiring athletes to improve and develop their skills and talents.
The format of the said event is Six to Seven Round Swiss System, Depending to the number of participants.
The Champion will be receiving P3,000 plus trophy while the 2nd place gets P2,000 plus trophy and the 3rd place will went home the P1,000 plus trophy.
