Saul Canelo Alvarez’s promoter Eric Gomez says the deal for the rematch against Gennady Golovkin is dead after receiving a counteroffer from his promoter Tom Loeffler for an unstated split that he finds unacceptable. Gomez isn’t saying what kind of purse split that Golovkin is asking for to defend against Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) for September 15, but Loeffler has already spilled the beans to the media in saying that GGG wants a 50-50 equal split of the money for the second fight.

Former middleweight champion David Lemieux (38-4, 33 KOs) came in overweight at 162 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in for his fight against Karim Achour (26-4-3, 4 KOs) this Saturday night at the Centre Videoton, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Coming in overweight has hurt Lemieux in the pocketbook with his purse for the fight slashed by 20%. Lemieux looked sickly at Friday’s weight. He had dark shadows under both eyes.

(May 24, 2018) — History is only two days away, as Jerwin "Pretty Boy’" Ancajas will defend the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior bantamweight world title in the main event Saturday evening against countryman Jonas Sultan at the Save Mart Center. It marks the first world title bout featuring two Filipino fighters in 93 years, when Pancho Villa defended the world flyweight title against Clever Sencio on May 2, 1925.
