Oscar De La Hoya says that Saul Canelo Alvarez has given up on negotiating a rematch against middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, and instead they’re now looking to put together a fight against former IBF 160lb champion Daniel Jacobs for September 15. Golovkin wouldn’t back down from the 50-50 purse split that he was asking for to face the Golden Boy promoted Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs).

Oscar De La Hoya says the negotiations between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are very close to being done. He’s feeling confident that the rematch between GGG and Alvarez can be completed in the next several days for September 15 on HBO PPV. However, at the same time, De La Hoya trashes Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) for him recently asking for a 50-50 purse split for the fight with Canelo.

Abel Sanchez says it’s going to be much different in the rematch between Gennady Golovkin vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez when it comes to the percentage of the revenue for their fight in September. Sanchez wants Canelo to accept that, and get off his high horse and start admitting that it was him that messed up by testing positive for clenbuterol last February.

Abel Sanchez says Gennady Golovkin has his mind made up about wanting a 50-50 equal purse split for his fight against Saul Canelo Alvarez on September 15, and he’s not going to be pressured to change his mind by the likes of Golden Boy or WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman. If the “prima donna” Canelo doesn’t like it, he knows what they can do with it, says Sanchez. Sanchez states that it’s up to Canelo whether he wants to take the fight with Golovkin.
