WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) doesn’t think too much of IBO/WBA/WBC champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) after learning of the British heavyweight pulling out of his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko last Friday for the second time. Wilder, 6’7” says that Fury lacks discipline for the sport, and he sees the 28-year-old as a sad sight to behold.

In recent photos of Fury, he’s looking kind of thick around the midsection area. Even if Fury hadn’t pulled out of his scheduled October 29 rematch against the 40-year-old Wladimir, it would be awfully tough for him to carve that weight off of his frame to get slimmed down enough to be competitive against the 6’6” Ukrainian.

I think Fury could have burned some of the weight off, but not all of it. The thing is, Fury would have needed to take all the weight off for him to beat Wladimir, considering that he barely beat him at his very best last November. Fury was in great shape for that fight. But if he came into the rematch with his current pear-shape body, I think he would be destroyed by Wladimir in lightning fashion.

Fury’s loyal boxing fans have been quick to defend him, saying that the public will change their mind about him once they find out what his problem is. I don’t think that’s going to be the case though, because is the second time Fury has pulled out of a fight against Wladimir. If it was just once, then it would be understandable, but this is the second time around.

In a press release sent out on Friday by Team Fury, it said that he was “medically unfit to fight”. There was no explanation of what that meant. Is Fury injured, has he lost his desire to fight, or is it something else? We don’t know. The boxing world is supposed to find out next week. It’s going to be interesting to learn what the cause of Fury’s latest cancellation of the fight is, but I don’t think it’s going to matter. It doesn’t matter what the latest explanation is for Fury. I think the boxing fans are going to argue that he should be stripped of his IBO/WBA/WBO straps so that Wladimir and somebody else can fight over the straps.

This is such sad news to see Fury pulling out of a Wladimir fight yet again. It kind of reminds me of how David Haye couldn’t make it to the ring for a scheduled fight against Fury a couple of years ago. In this case, it’s Fury who can’t make it to the ring.

Fury and Wladimir were scheduled to fight each other on July 9, but fight ended up getting postponed due to a Fury injury to one of his feet. It took ages for the fight to be rescheduled for October 29. But now that it’s been rescheduled, the fight date has been canceled once again. It’s so sad when a fighter can’t make it into the ring.
