WBA Super World featherweight champion Carl Frampton (23-0, 14 KOs) was on target with his weight on Friday in coming in at 125 pounds for his rematch against #2 WBA Leo Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 18 KOs) this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Santa Cruz also weighed in at 125lbs.

They looked on friendly terms during the face off with each other after weighing in. There were no attempts at intimidation by either guy.

A new boxing sensation has arrived on the scene.

Gervonta Davis is ready to take the next step and become the future of the sport. It began with him capturing the IBF super-featherweight title with a dominant seventh round knockout of champion Juan Pedraza at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn.

The oddmakers made Davis a prohibitive underdog in the fight because of his inexperience inside the ring. The youngster showed the poise needed to become a champion, and convinced the skeptics that he’s here to stay. The reality of him winning a title in his 17th pro fight at the ripe old age of 22 years old is quite astounding.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum might have a live one in unbeaten Jeff Born (16-0-1, 11 KOs) as the next opponent for his top money fighter Manny Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs) for their math-up on April 23. I’m sure Arum doesn’t want Pacquiao to lose so soon after him making his comeback against Jessie Vargas, but things happen.

Horn, 28, seems to think he’s got the ability to beat the 38-year-old Pacquiao. That would obviously be terrible news for Arum if Pacquiao loses to Horn in a small money fight before he can face unbeaten Terence Crawford or Vasyl Lomachenko, two fighters that he’s talked about wanting to match against him.

Light welterweight contender Adrien Broner sees middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) as a vulnerable fighter, who would have lost to welterweight Kell Brook (36-1, 25 Kos) last September if he’d been a 160lb fighter rather than just a 147 pounder.

Broner says Golovkin will lose to Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) by a knockout when the two of them face each other in the near future. Since it’s still not known if Canelo will ever agree to fight Golovkin, it doesn’t matter what Broner’s opinion is on the subject of him and Canelo. At the rate that Canelo is going, we may not ever see him fight Golovkin.

Pacquiao also doesn't think McGregor would have a chance against Floyd Mayweather.

While the back-and-forth between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor may never end, it appears there’s another high-profile boxer who is willing to step into the ring with the Irish UFC champion should the opportunity arise. Per a report from Edward Chaykovsky of Boxing Scene, Manny Pacquiao said he would be open to boxing Conor McGregor, “but not in [UFC].”

IBO/WBA junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara’s mismatch against Yuri Foreman (34-3, 0 KOs) last Friday night brought in good ratings on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike. Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs) won the fight by a 4th round knockout over the 36-year-old Foreman. Foreman was also down in round 3 of their fight at the Hialeah Park Racing & Casino in Hialeah, Florida.

The match brought in an average of 547,000 viewers with a high of 707,000 on Spike TV. Lara ended the fight with an uppercut that put Foreman down for the count. Surprisingly, the Lara-Foreman fight pulled in more viewers than the Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora rematch fight had brought in. That was a mismatch too.

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is bellyaching that he can’t get a big fight against one of the top stars in the 147lb division, and that he may need to defend his title next against his mandatory challenger Errol Spence Jr. or else be forced to give up his IBF title by the International Boxing Federation.

Brook doesn’t understand why he can get a big money fight against Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Manny Pacquiao or Keith Thurman. The problem that Brook has is pretty clear. Those guys are all busy or have other plans. The fights happen rarely, and there’s a lot of waiting involved with them. Look at Garcia and Thurman.

David Haye and Tony Bellew had an uneventful meeting for their The Gloves Are Off taping on Friday without the two of them going at it. Haye said they needed to have a 10 minute cooling off period when things started to get heated at one point.

Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) says he can’t wait to get the 33-year-old Bellew into the ring on March 4 so he can belt him around the ring and knock him out quickly. Haye says he’s hoping Bellew can bring some talent to the ring, because he would like to see the fight make it to the 5th or 6th rounds for the boxing fans. But, Haye doesn’t see the talented needed for Bellew to do much in this fight other than get knocked out quickly in front of the fans at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Former welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather said Wednesday he was "interested" in a fight with Conor McGregor and had already offered the mixed martial arts star $15 million to climb into the ring with him.

Mayweather, who retired in 2015 with a perfect 49-0 record, told ESPN's First Take program that a McGregor bout was the only thing that could tempt him to end his exile from the ring.

The 39-year-old was responding to a question about whether he would consider a rematch with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao following the duo's much-heralded "Fight of the Century" two years ago.
