Charlo, 27, took exception to Lubin criticizing his recent opposition in defeating Charles Hatley in his first defense of his title last April. Charlo says he’s never heard of the opponents that Lubin has fought before during his 4-year pro career.

Miguel Cotto and David Lemieux could be facing each other on December 2 on HBO at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to Dan Rafael. If Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs) and Lemieux (38-3, 33 KOs) don’t face each other on that date, then Lemieux will still wind up on the undercard in the co-feature.

Cotto, 36, would obviously be in the main event still, but against another opponent. This would likely be on HBO pay-per-view for the Cotto vs. Lemieux fight.

Trainer Freddie Roach says light welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford is his No1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world right now. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is said to be interested in matching WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (23-0, 19 KOs) against former 2 division belt holder Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) in early 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada or Texas.

This is a great fight for Frampton, but probably not such a good one for Valdez. Frampton is fighting on another level than Valdez fight now in terms of talent. Valdez looks like an Arturo Gatti type of fighter without much defense, and with what appears to be deteriorating punch resistance.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is reportedly interested in matching WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-0 18 KOs) against former heavyweight world title challenger Bryant Jennings (20-2, 11 KOs) for December.

Parker had a very easy fight last Saturday night in beating mandatory challenger Hughie Fury (20-1, 10 KOs) by a 12 round majority decision at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Hughie didn’t want to fight. He was more interested in moving around the ring, throwing jabs and tying Parker up to prevent him from unloading his big power shots.

Promoter Eddie Hearn hopes to match his new Matchroom Sport fighter Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) against former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (38-3, 33 KOs) next March after Jacobs fights on November 11 against Luis Arias (19-0, 9 KOs) on HBO Boxing.

Lemieux has the kind of power to reduce Jacobs to rubble if he lands one of his left hooks on the button. Hearn might be mistaking Lemieux is being an easy mark for Jacobs based off of what Gennady Golovkin did to him. Jacobs isn’t Golovkin, and he might not have the chin to make it past Lemieux.
