Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez insists that Saul Canelo Alvarez has “many options” for his next fight in September if the rematch with IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin doesn’t take place. Gomez says they still want the fight with Golovkin, but it’s up to him to decide whether he’s willing to agree to the terms set for the purse split from May 5.

Gomez isn’t saying what kind of purse split that Golovkin is asking for to defend against Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) for September 15, but Loeffler has already spilled the beans to the media in saying that GGG wants a 50-50 equal split of the money for the second fight.

Tom Loeffler thinks the major reason why Golden Boy Promotions aren’t showing interest in giving middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin a fairer deal for the rematch with Saul Canelo Alvarez for September 15 is because they’re looking for an easier opponent for him.

Coming in overweight has hurt Lemieux in the pocketbook with his purse for the fight slashed by 20%. Lemieux looked sickly at Friday’s weight. He had dark shadows under both eyes.

IBF World super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (29-1-1, 20 KOs) will be defending his title this Saturday night against his mandatory challenger Jonas Sultan (14-3, 9 KOs) in a 50-50 fight at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California. This is the first title fight between Filipino fighters in 93 years.

Thursday’s purse bid for the IBF heavyweight title eliminator between Dillian Whyte and Kubrat Pulev was won by Epic Sports & Entertainment. They offered a winning bid of $1,500,111, which was twice the total of the next highest bid.
