WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (38-0, 30 KOs) and IBF champion Robert Easter Jr. (21-0, 14 KOs) made weight on Friday for their unification fight on Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Garcia weighed in at 135 pounds. Easter Jr. weighed in a half pound less at 134 ½ lbs. During the face off, the 5’11” Easter Jr. towered over the 5’6” Mikey.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 26, 2018) – Christopher "Pitufo" Diaz (23-0, 15 KOs) will have the crowd on his side Saturday evening at the Kissimmee Civic Center when he takes on Japan's Masayuki Ito (23-1-1) for the vacant WBO junior lightweight title.

Kissimmee is home to a large Puerto Rican population, and Diaz is seeking to become the fifth current male world champion from the "Island of Enchantment."

Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will be looking to end his two-fight losing streak against former WBO minimumweight champion Moises Fuentes on the Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 2 rematch on September 15 on HBO pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Gonzalez-Fuentes fight still hasn’t been finalized, but it’s in the works according to ESPN.

Saul Canelo Alvarez says he never intentionally used performance enhancing drugs when he tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol while training for his canceled May 5th rematch against middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) says he wasn’t fully aware of the risks involved in eating beef in Mexico. The 27-year-old Canelo wasn’t of the risks from eating potentially tainted beef that contained clenbuterol, which is a substance that improves stamina for athletes.

Tyson Fury says he’s disappointed that Anthony Joshua is avoiding a unification fight against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Fury says he could fight Wilder in the U.S, and he thinks it would be a huge accomplishment if he beat him on his own soil. Wilder has never been beaten before. Fury wants to be a road warrior like he was when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in Germany in 2015.

Senator Manny Pacquiao dispelled rumors about his health and assured his fans, friends and family that he is perfectly well following recent reports that claimed otherwise. 

A week before his historic knockout win over WBA champion Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Pacquiao admitted to have undergone a routine medical and physical checkup, a requirement for all boxers before they step inside the ring.

WBA Super World bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett (19-0, 9 KOs) has picked former four division world champion Nonito Donaire (38-5, 24 KOs) for his quarter-finals match in the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament in September or October.

In an interesting move, Burnett and Donaire ate dinner together after the selection process by Ryan. That was an unusual move by the 26-year-old Burnett. If it helps him win the fight, then perhaps it was worth it. Burnett needs to start thinking of a good plan for him to take away Donaire’s offensive fire power, because right now the fight does not look like a good style match-up for him. Donaire is smart, experienced, fast and powerful.
