Adam Smith of Sky Sports says former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will need to examine his career if he suffers a second loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. later this year in November or December.

The World Boxing Organization has made Krzysztof Glowacki their new WBO crusierweight champion after the previous champ Oleksandr Usyk moved up to heavyweight to go after the world titles in that weight class. This means that Glowacki (31-1, 19 KOs) will be facing WBC Diamond champion Mairis Briedis (25-1, 18 KOs) as the WBO champion when the two face each other in the semifinal of the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament this month on June 15 on DAZN at the Arena Riga, in Riga, Latvia.

OXON HILL, Md. (June 4, 2019) — Teofimo Lopez is one win away from a shot at fulfilling his world title destiny. Standing in his way is fellow unbeaten Masayoshi Nakatani, who is intent on spoiling his plans.

Lopez and Nakatani will lock horns in a 12-round IBF lightweight world title eliminator Friday, July 19 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Anthony Joshua will be using his rematch clause in his contract with Andy Ruiz Jr. to make the second fight with the American later this year likely in November. According to ESPN, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn says AJ has the final say so for the location of the fight.

 George Groves wants Anthony Joshua to step back into the ring and face Andy Ruiz Jr. in an immediate rematch without letting any time go by. Groves feels that Joshua (22-1, 21 KOs) wasn’t fully “switched on” for the fight for whatever reason last Saturday night when he got worked over for seven rounds by Ruiz.

Boxing is and always has been a brutal sport. It is not The X-Factor or American Idol nor is it the WWF. It is a sport where if ill-equipped, lives are on the line. The squared circle is no place for manufactured superstars.

Anthony Joshua says challenger Andy Ruiz Jr. is on the same threat level to him as WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) insists that Ruiz Jr. (32-1, 21 KOs) is right up there with those two guys.

Joshua has tried to let the fans know during his news conferences that Ruiz Jr. isn’t being overlooked. However, Joshua is going a little too far with his praise of Ruiz Jr. by putting him in the same class as Wilder in terms of him being a threat.

Callum Smith wants to do a job on his much smaller challenger Hassan N’Dam this Saturday night to ensure that he keeps alive his hopes of a big money fight against Saul Canelo Alvarez. Smith (25-0, 18 KOs) is defending his WBA Super World super middleweight title against the 35-year-old former WBA 160-pound champion N’Dam (37-3, 21 KOs), who has been picked out from the middleweight division specifically for this fight. Smith’s promoter wants Smith to win and look good.

Joe Joyce will be taking a step up in class on July 13 in taking on former heavyweight title challenger Bryant Jennings (24-3, 14 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England. It’s unknown at this time how many rounds the Joyce vs. Jennings fight will be.

The Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman hype is real and it's drawing a lot of strong opinions from fans and boxing professionals alike. Among them is Terence Crawford, who says that he wants WBA Super World welterweight champ Keith Thurman to beat Manny Pacquiao in their upcoming fight on July 20, and proceeds to say that he wants Thurman to move on to bigger fights.
