The University of the Santo Tomas Growling Tigers went on to pull off an 86-72 beating of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons at the Mall of Asia Arena. CJ Cansino fired a triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals on a 5-of-6 (83%) shooting.
Renzo Subido also drained 13 points and dished out 6 assists for the Tigers, who won over the Maroons for the first time since September 17, 2016.

IRAN continued to roll in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, defeating the Philippines, 81-73, at the start of the second round of the competition on Thursday night at the Azady Gym in Tehran.

Opted not to play big man Hamed Haddadi for much of the contest, the Iranians still proved themselves a handful for the Philippine team, anchoring their attack on their size advantage and timely shooting from the outside.

THE defending champions Ateneo Blue Eagles notched their first win in Season 81 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines after defeating the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 87-79, in their “Battle of Katipunan” on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lost in their season opener previously, the Eagles bounced back by taking on everything the Maroons threw at them, banking on balance and collective composure.
