Fiercest rivals Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University battle it out in the basketball court for the UAAP Men’s Basketball Championship Season 79 starting Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
THE Ateneo Blue Eagles advanced to the finals of University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 79 men’s basketball after beating the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in overtime, 69-68, yesterday in their Final Four rubber match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Needing to come out triumphant to set a finals date with rivals and already-qualified De La Salle Green Archers, Ateneo got the better of FEU in their do-or-die on a balanced attack.
The Eagles struggled early, finding themselves trailing behind, 20-15, at the end of the first period.
We must appreciate the genius of this delivery.
You often see “no-look passes” that aren’t really no-look passes. This is a real no-look pass by James Harden.
In real time, this made me fall out of my chair. Slow it down, and it gets better. This is a master craftsman at work.
THE second of the Final Four matchups in Season 79 of University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball fires off this weekend with second seeds Ateneo Blue Eagles battling the defending champions and number three team Far Eastern University Tamaraws at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Following the semifinal tiff between tops seeds De La Salle Green Archers and fourth-seeded Adamson Soaring Falcons, which the former won, it is now time for Ateneo and FEU to dispute the other semifinal seat beginning with their 4 p.m. encounter tomorrow. Incidentally, the Eagles (10-4) hold a twice-to-beat advantage over the Tamaraws (9-5).
FOUND themselves in a battle all game long in their University Athletic Association of the Philippines semifinals, the De La Salle Green Archers stood their ground and eventually staved off the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 69-64, yesterday to claim the first finals seat in Season 79 men’s basketball.
Holding a twice-to-beat edge in the Final Four, the Taft-based Archers saw no need to use of as they dispatched the Falcons at the first instance, with import Ben Mbala and Jeron Teng showing the way, but not after being made to sweat by their opponents.
La Salle started the game strong with a 7-0 run, five coming from Teng.
A PHRASE very often heard from anti-mining advocates is “Common Good”. You need more than your fingers on one hand to count how many times someone like the DENR secretary-designate mentions this term while making a one-hour PowerPoint presentation, and more than your fingers on your two hands if the presentation is even longer.Read more ...
Today was supposed to be the day of the first hearing by the Commission on Appointments on the nominee for Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. An interesting nominee who, on one hand, says what she does is what is right and she doesn’t care about being confirmed, and on the other has been doing media rounds and social media rounds and visiting legislators for purposes of... confirmation!Read more ...
