That’ll do it, folks

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacrmento Kings in an ugly 98-94 mess of a game. Julius Randle led the way with 26 points, shaking and baking the Kings in front of his cold college coach John Calipari, and a few parting shots from D’Angelo Russell sealed the deal late in the game.

The Phoenix Suns managed to snap their 13-game losing streak, staring at a driven Russell Westbrook in the face and denying him both an NBA record-breaking triple-double and victory. An opportunity for the Lakers to close the gap with Phoenix slipped through their fingertips, one Papagiannis jumper at a time.

Overall this wasn’t really a game where the Lakers looked impressive, but they managed to do just enough to beat a Kings team that is pretty bad too. The Kings got out ahead early, leading 31-18 after the end of the first quarter, but turned around and scored just 14 points in the second quarter.

That’s the opening the Lakers needed to find themselves back in a game they looked set to lose, and suddenly it seemed fated that they would defeat the Kings. They did, and it was despite the fact Metta World Peace played nearly 10 minutes.

There’s just three games left in the season, and if watching them “play well” and win is your thing, this odd three-game winning streak is for you. Strange times, but free tacos for all in attendance, and a home victory in one of the last games of the season.
