Despite a fourth quarter comeback attempt, the Warriors shut down the Kings in tonight’s 114-100 win.
Draymond Green was the player of the night, scoring a season-high 23 points with eight assists and three made shots from downtown in just under five minutes, two in a row assisted by Zaza Pachulia (who also had eight rebounds on the night.)
Meanwhile, Stephen Curry had another one of his signature clutch performances, coming in hot in the fourth quarter to hit back-to-back-to-back threes. Curry had 27 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists and six steals.
It was a notable night for the bench, as well, with Sean Livingston (8), Andre Iguodala (9), JaVale McGee (9), David West (8), and Ian Clark (10) all nearly scoring in double figures. McGee also had 10 rebounds and seemed to be everywhere in one of his more athletic performances of the season.
Sacramento managed to keep it within seven for both of the first half before Golden State blew it open with a 35 point third quarter. As they do. A slow start to the fourth quarter, however, allowed the Kings to get it within 11 points.
This was the first meeting of these two teams since Sacramento traded DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans. The last time they met, Sacramento forced it to overtime and won. It was looking like it might go the same way tonight.
Of course, that was when Curry returned in full hero mode, with just over five minutes remaining, to go on a one man 9-0 run to break it back open and that was all she wrote for the Kings.
The Warriors have now won six straight as they hold on to both the conference lead and a 2.5 game advantage on San Antonio. Next up, they head into a tough batch of games with Memphis on Sunday, followed by a Rockets/Spurs/Rockets sandwich as we get ready to wind down the regular season.
