Phoenix is set to rebuild with its No. 4 pick.

The Phoenix Suns have reassured their first-round pick, Josh Jackson, that he will not be included in any deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Arizona Sports 98.7’s John Gambadoro. Jackson, a 6’8 wing from the University of Kansas, was taken No. 4 overall in last month’s NBA draft.

No trade is imminent between the Suns and Cavs since Irving’s trade request became public last week, but the team has been rumored to be involved in potential three-team trades. Eric Bledsoe is the likely moving piece in any trade scenario, and Phoenix would be in the market for more young pieces and picks in exchange.

News on Tuesday could hurt their potential involvement, though, as guard Brandon Knight tore his ACL, and could miss the entire season. Bledsoe becomes a lot less expendable as a result.

Whether or not the Suns get involved in any blockbuster trades, it’s clear they won’t move Jackson, who had No. 1 pick aspirations early on last college season. The Suns are set to rebuild with Devin Booker and Jackson leading the way.
