Philadelphia 76ers guard/point-forward Ben Simmons left yesterday’s game against the Washington Wizards with a knee injury that forced him to miss the remainder of that game.
Early reports suggested that Simmons’s injury may not be that bad as an initial MRI came back negative. As it turns out, the injury is more severe than originally thought
"Ben Simmons suffered a subluxation of the left knee cap, Sixers say. He’s considering treatment options and currently out."
If you don’t know, a subluxation is a “partial dislocation”. Simmons had recovered from a serious back injury back in February, and this is the latest ping on he injury report for the All-Star.
In three seeding games, Simmons was averaging 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He was also solidifying himself as an All-NBA defender this year leading the NBA in steals and a 2.3 DBPM.
The Sixers will have to ask more of Shake Milton — who has had two good comeback games after a subpar one against the Indiana Pacers last Saturday. Other ball handler/offense initiator responsibilities could fall to Josh Richardson, Alec Burks, and Raul Neto.
