ROUTS were the order of the day as Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches and Diliman Preparatory School hammered out impressive victories over their respective rivals in the 17 years old and under division in the 2017 Youth Basketball Cup at the DPS gym in Quezon City over the weekend.
SHAN overwhelmed Notre Dame, 102-83, behind the all-around brilliance of Billshan Digno for its fifth win in six outings last March 4.
Digno, who was also named as Best Player of the Game, finished with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Novaliches-based SHAN.
DPS rode on a balanced scoring attack to smother St. Joseph of Novaliches, 140-61, last March 5..
Jasper Collado finished with a double double of 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Quezon City-based Blue Dragons.
In the 15-under category, King’sMontessori School outsteadied Notre Dame, 93-91, with Jericho Lava leading the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
In the 13-under class, DPS humbled St. Joseph, 99-40, with Mikael Gatpo finishing with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists; and Eaglets crushed Sto. Nino, 77-49, behind Luis Basilio’s 17 points, four rebounds and three aissists last March 4.
Last March 5, King’s Montessori School nipped Claret, 80-64; and Sto. Nino downed SHAN, 61-54l and EDSCI, 83-81.
The tournament is organized by Coach Rensy Bajar Basketball Clinic and supported by former Sen. Nikki Coseteng, Gerry’s Grill, Gatorade, Jolibee, Rebisco, Hygienix, Pocari Sweat and MBR Sports.
