MPBL: Faulty ring ends Navotas vs Muntinlupa game

A faulty basketball ring has left the game between the Navotas Clutch and the Muntinlupa Cagers hanging after MPBL officials decided to suspend the match at the Navotas Sports Complex Saturday night.

Apparently, one of the rings got nearly disconnected following a 3-point attempt by Navotas' Kyle Neypes at 1:34 in the fourth quarter.

The Clutch's Michole Sorela was still able to sink in a follow-up when game officials decided to halt the match for safety purposes.

Muntinlupa was leading the game in overtime, 98-95, when it was suspended.

The Cagers could have walked away with a fourth victory if not for the stoppage. The Clutch's record, on the other hand, remained at 2-2.

In the first game, the Bataan Risers turned back the Imus Bandera, 95-85.

Former PBA cager Byron Villarias unloaded 25 points to lift the Risers past the Bandera.

It was the fourth consecutive win by Bataan, which improved to 4-1. The loss was the third in 4 games for Imus.
