TWENTY-FIVE years ago, a young Bong Ravena was drafted by Swift head coach Yeng Guiao in 1992 in the Philippine Basketball Association as he felt the youthful do-it-all wingman can do wonders.

True enough, Ravena made his presence felt immediately as he won Rookie of the Year honors and had a fruitful and lengthy PBA career.

Exactly 25 years later, Guiao was in a similar position as he just recently drafted another Ravena in hopes of turning NLEX into a contender in the 43rd PBA season.

Kiefer Ravena, son of Bong, was an obvious choice for Guiao and his Road Warriors at No. 2 in the recently concluded 2017 PBA Draft given his well-rounded talent and star quality.

The younger Ravena will look to justify the selection and trust that Guiao accorded  him as he looks forward to playing in the PBA and help NLEX whichever way he can.

“It’s my childhood dream to play in the PBA and now I’m here. I’m looking forward to doing my best in helping NLEX’s development,” said Ravena.

No wonder, Ravena is well aware of the similarities between his and his father’s entry in the league with both of them having picked by Guiao.

“I’m hopeful that I can follow what my father did and have a significant and wonderful career in the PBA as well,” said the younger Ravena.

Ravena is set to team-up with rising spitfires Kevin Alas and Alex Mallari in manning the NLEX backcourt.
