Senador pinuri ang paglagda ni PDigong sa kontrobersiyal na anti-terror bill

MANILA – ilang mga senador ang pumuri kay PDigong matapos na lagdaan at maging ganap na batas ang kontrobersiyal na anti-terrorism bill sa kabila ng samut-saring protesta at pangamba at takot ng iba't ibang sektor ng lipunan o para patahimikin ang mga kritiko't oposisyon ng gobyerno.


Binigyan ng kredito ni senator Panfilo Lacson, ang author ng anti-terrorism bill, si President Duterte para sa kanyang malakas na political will sa pagpirma ng “landmark legislation” na target palakasin ang kampanya ng bansa kontra terorismo.

“Much credit goes to PRRD. With all the pressure coming from different directions against the signing of the Anti-Terrorism Bill into law, at the end of the day, it is his strong political will that mattered most,” ani Lacson sa pahayag.

“I cannot imagine this measure being signed under another administration. If only for this, I take my hat off to the President,” dagdag pa niya.

Sa paglagda ng batas, ang masugid na tagasulong ng Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 ay sinisiguro ang publiko na “exert extra effort” para protektahan laban sa posibleng pag-abuso sa implementasyon gayundin ang lahat ng pagbabantay sa nakapaloob sa batas.

Gayundin denepensahan ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III ang Pangulo sa pagpirma na aniya'y “full of safeguards” kontra pinangangambahang pang- aabuso na maaring gawin ng tagapagpatupad ng batas o state security forces sa oras ng implementasyon nito.
