THERE’S no stopping Diliman College for now.
Diliman College added UAAP member National University to its list of victims, hacking out a lopsided 79-54 victory in the 2018 Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) summer basketball tournament at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City yesterday.
Adama Diakhetti proved an unstoppable in the middle for the Blue Dragons as he finished with 31 points and 15 rebounds against the Bulldogs.
But solid, all-around performances of Kristopher Torrado (12 points) and Joseph Brutas (12 points) greatly helped the Blue Dragons’ cause.
Diliman coach Rensy Bajar lauded the players for their impressive performance even against more-established teams in orher major collegiate leagues.
“The team is supremely confident right now and the players have shown they can excel in what they do as long as they keep believing in themselves and play as one,”said Bajar, also the first assistant coach of Pido Jarencio in PBA team Globalport Batang Pier.
“With the all-out support of our school management and sponsors, we have already succeeded in building a winning culture,” added Bajar, a successful player in both the PBA and ABL before turning his sights into coaching.
Bajar thanked Diliman president former Sen. Nikki Coseteng and Jerome Ngo and Wilson Sia of Gerry’s Grill for their continued support to the team.
Before beating NU, Diliman also won over PBA D-League member Centro Escolar University, 69-55, last May 9 and Olivarez College, 72-69, last May 12.
Up next for Diliman is NCAA heavyweight Jose Rizal University.
Earlier, Diliman also defeated NCAA team University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 80-60, in the 2018 Fr. Martin Cup Summer Open basketball tournament at the San Beda College gym last April 29.
