Late Sunday night, Patricia Arquette took to Twitter to honor her late sister, Alexis Arquette, who passed away earlier this month after a long battle with HIV.
“If there is a reincarnation I pray to God that you come back Lex into a family that loves you as much as we do,” the Oscar-winning actress wrote. “Thank you all for your condolences and words of support and prayers for our family.”

Patricia penned the family’s release announcing Alexis’ death on September 11.
“Alexis was a brilliant artist and painter, a singer, an entertainer and an actor,” Patricia wrote. “Her career was cut short, not by her passing, but by her decision to live her truth and her life as a transgender woman. Despite the fact that there are few parts for trans actors, she refused to play roles that were demeaning or stereotypical. She was a vanguard in the fight for understanding and acceptance for all trans people.”
Shortly after Alexis’ death, it was revealed that the actress had been suffering from a 29-year battle with HIV and had ultimately died from cardiac arrest.
Her actor brother, David Arquette, honored his sister with a throwback pic, tweeting, “Thank you all for your love and kind words about Alexis. My hero for eternity,” he wrote.
