MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has been hailed as the "Sexiest Woman Alive" by Esquire Philippines in its August 2016 issue.
In the caption, Esquire wrote: "Seven months after her coronation and more than halfway into her reign, Miss Universe comes home, strips down, and bares the heart beneath her confident beauty. She speaks to Esquire about pageantry, persistence, and practicing what she preaches."
The announcement includes a photo of Wurtzbach looking laid back in a skimpy shorts and gray shirt. But then again, who needs to go bare if you can be sexy even with full clothes on?
The men's magazine shared the news to their readers on Monday via their social media account.
The "Sexiest Woman Alive" is an annual issue of the magazine, including its Philippine edition whose May issue last year honored ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Karen Davila with the same title.
The magazine's release comes after actress Jessy Mendiola, who was hailed by FHM magazine as the Sexiest Woman in its 2016 list, came under fire for a remark she made, joking that she beat Pia in the FHM Philippines 100 Sexiest list.
Pia came to Jessy's defense, saying she did not see anything wrong with the actress' comment.
"What I saw was a girl who was just really ecstatic to be given that recognition. Nothing wrong with that. Congratulations, Jessy!" Pia tweeted.
During her past interviews, the 24-year-old beauty queen shared that she herself had been scrutinized before for her body type, adding that during the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 competition, she was one of the heaviest candidates.
She used this as motivation before competing in the Miss Universe pageant.
