MANILA – Anne Curtis is set to tick off another item from her bucket list.

Speaking with ABS-CBN News, Curtis revealed that she is currently undergoing a rigorous kali martial arts training in preparation for her movie with Filipino-American MMA star Brandon Vera, which will be directed by Erik Matti.

“Excited ako kasi nga hindi ko pa siya ginagawa and it’s actually always been something that I’ve wanted to do. Game kaagad. Ine-enjoy ko siya. I guess it helps that I’m also very active. Doing something na challenging excites me,” she said.

Curtis said she is trying to learn as much from her training because she wants to do all her stunts in the movie herself.

“No to doubles. That’s why I’m really putting in so much effort. I told this to direk na kung puwede ako talaga. Seryoso talaga kaya inaaral ko as much as I can kahit pasa pasa na ako, okay lang,” she said.

Vera, on the other hand, said he is impressed with Curtis’ improvement despite training for only a few days.

“I’m very interested in watching Anne train. Nakita ko 'yung first day niya. From first day to day six, ibang tao na talaga. Natututo siyang mahusay, maayos. I don’t know how to explain it in Tagalog but she’s a beast.

If you’re lucky enough to watch Anne train, you can see how focused she is,” he said.

Vera said he has a lot of catching up to do because Curtis has been training for three hours each day for a week now.

“Nakakanerbyos. It’s my first project. I get to co-star in an amazing movie directed by Erik Matti, and come on, the lead is Anne Curtis. I have some big shoes to fill. Mahirap ito but kaya ko. Kayang kaya ko,” he said.

The still-untitled action-drama film will reportedly be shown in theaters internationally.

Meanwhile, Vera shared that he will now live in the Philippines for good. Vera’s father, Ernesto, grew up in Quezon province.

“Nandito na ako sa Pilipinas.  I live here now. I just found out I’m a dual citizen at birth. I’ll be at the consulate on Monday to pick up my passport. Super excited to be here. Nandito na ako. Pilipinas, sa inyo na ako,” he said. - report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News
