Channing Tatum’s Daughter Everly Was Not Impressed By ‘Step Up,' Asked If She Could 'Watch a Real Movie?’

It takes a lot to impress Everly Tatum! The 4-year-old daughter of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum was recently exposed to Step Up, the film where her famous parents met, and she didn’t quite have the reaction they were hoping for.

“We showed her Step Up for the first time. We were like, ‘This is going to be really cool. It’s got dancing, she’s going to love it,’” Channing told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night. “Within 10 seconds she was like, ‘Can I watch a real movie? I dunno, like a good one?’”

Everly’s dancer parents weren’t pleased, and jokingly tried to spark her interest.

“We were like, ‘What do you mean? This is a real movie. It was such a real movie they made like seven more of these! You will watch it. Sit down!’” the actor quipped. “After 10 more seconds, she was like, ‘Can we please watch a real movie?’ And we were like, ‘Fine, just put on Moana. I don’t care.’”

When Kimmel pointed out that Channing needs to be in an animated film to capture his daughter’s interest, he replied, “I would happily do that. That would be a really good career move. But my daughter hates when I do voices.”

Still, he has a plan for tricking Everly into liking any future animated film he does, adding, “What I want to do is do an animated movie and not tell her that I’m in it and make her go see it, and if she likes it, I’m going to rub it in her face.”

One thing Everly has picked up from her famous parents is their love of dance.

“She was there for Magic Mike and now her dancing is showing that she’s seen a lot of that,” Channing joked of his daughter’s dance moves. “She’ll go around the house and we’re like [double take], and I’m like, ‘I didn’t teach her that.’”
