More Filipinos relied on ABS-CBN for news and entertainment as TV Patrol and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano secured spots on the list of the most watched programs in April.
This is based on data from Kantar Media, which showed that nine out of the top 10 most watched programs in the country were produced by ABS-CBN. The Kapamilya network also garnered an average audience share of 43 percent among urban and rural homes in April, or nine points higher versus GMA’s 34 percent.
ABS-CBN primetime series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano maintained its reign for the whole month with an average national TV rating of 37.7 percent. Filipinos still grip on to the story of Cardo (Coco Martin) that not only provides action-packed scenes every night, but also promotes values and crime awareness to viewers.
Meanwhile, more viewers tuned in to TV Patrol as it recorded an average national TV rating of 29.1 percent compared to rival program 24 Oras with only got 18.6 percent. With Noli de Castro, Ted Failon, and Bernadette Sembrano as anchors, it continues to provide timely and relevant news to viewers to be in the service of the Filipino.
Also on the list is The Voice Teens, which got 35.5 percent as it returned to showcase the talents and fulfill the dreams of young Filipinos. Viewers also tuned in to the cute transformations of Kapamilya child stars in Your Face Sounds Familiar with 34.5 percent, while the magical and values-laden stories of Wansapanataym captivated viewers, hitting 32.6 percent.
The inspiring stories of letter senders in MMK also continued to touch viewers’ hearts, as it recorded an average national TV rating of 31.8 percent.
Current affairs program Rated K was also a hit among viewers, recording an average national TV rating of 20.5 percent.
Also in the top 10 were the family-oriented series My Dear Heart (26.5 percent) and Home Sweetie Home (23.3 percent). The story of Heart (Heart Ramos) continues to inspire viewers as she fights her illness while changing the life of Dr. Margaret (Coney Reyes) along the way. The married couple, Romeo (John Lloyd Cruz) and Julie (Toni Gonzaga), meanwhile, continue to show the strength of their relationship and love for each other despite life’s challenges.
Meanwhile, Pusong Ligaw instantly captivated viewers with its story about love, friendship, and achieving one’s dreams, as it scored an average national TV rating of 17.9 percent. The recently concluded The Greatest Love, which showed the undying love of mothers for their children, scored 14.4 percent.
ABS-CBN also won across all time blocks nationwide, particularly in primetime (6 p.m.-12 mn), hitting an average audience share of 49 percent beating GMA’s 33 percent. The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.
ABS-CBN also drew more viewers in the morning block (6 a.m.-12nn), with an average audience share of 34 percent, compared to GMA’s 33 percent; in the noontime block (12nn-3 p.m.) with 42 percent versus GMA’s 36 percent; and afternoon block (3 -6 p.m.) with 43 perccent while GMA got just 35 percent.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also reigned in other parts of the country. In Total Balance Luzon, the Kapmilya network registered an average national audience share of 44 perent versus GMA’s 36 percent; in Total Luzon where it recorded 39 perent, compared to GMA’s 36 percent; in Total Visayas with 51 percent, beating GMA’s 28 percent; and in Total Mindanao with 52 percent versus GMA’s 29 percent.
