Adam Levine delivered a powerful tribute to late singer Christina Grimmie on Tuesday's episode of The Voice.
The coach got emotional as he remembered the 22-year-old artist and Voice alum, who was fatally shot last June after a concert in Orlando, Florida.
“God, I loved her so much. I am talking to you guys specifically, I’m talking to everybody," Levine told Grimmie's parents, Albert and Tina, and her brother, Mark, who were at the front of audience.
"I miss her. It's unfair she is not here," he continued. "We're going to sing a little song tonight, and I'm going to be singing every word to her, in her honor. Thank you guys for being here. Christina, we love you."
Grimmie competed during the sixth season of The Voice, and was a finalist on Team Adam. As a tribute to her memory, Levine joined the current members of his team -- Jesse Larson, Lilli Passero and Mark Isaiah -- for a soulful and touching performance of The Beatles' iconic 1968 ballad "Hey Jude."
Grimmie was killed on June 10 at the Plaza Live theater in Orlando during a meet-and-greet, as she signed autographs and took photos with her fans. During the event, obsessed fan Kevin Loibl shot her twice before ending his own life.
In March, in honor of what would have been the singer's 23rd birthday, Grimmie's family celebrated her life and legacy by sharing a video with her fans that depicted the singer as a superhero, and featured her single "Invisible," which was released posthumously.
