Sir Patrick Stewart's experience with marijuana has been very therapeutic.
The Logan star recently opened up about his use of the drug in order to deal with arthritis, a painful joint ailment that runs in his family.
Medicinal marijuana has "significantly reduced the stiffness and pain" in his hands, the 76-year-old actor said in a statement, noting, "I have had no negative side effects from this treatment and the alternative would have been to continue taking NSAIDs, Advil, Aleve and Naproxen, which are known to be harsh on the liver and to cause acid reflux."
Why Stewart chose to speak out now has to do with his support for a new Oxford University initiative that will research the medical benefits of marijuana.
"This is an important step forward for Britain in a field of research that has for too long been held back by prejudice, fear and ignorance," Stewart added. "I believe this program of research might result in benefits for people like myself as well as millions of others."
Meanwhile, whatever proactive steps the actor is taking for his health, they're absolutely working, given his killer beach bod all the way in his seventies!
