Larry Rudolph is a former Entertainment lawyer turned Talent manager who has represented Britney Spears on and off since 1998. In effect he stated that her mental health might prevent her from "ever working again". Having founded a licensed talent agency in 2015 I can say with 100% certainty that a reputable talent agent would never do this unless they were actively trying to destroy a clients career.
I have had two soured business relationships since 2014. In one of them I had to let go of woman who was billing me for time not worked and another one with an underemployed casting director who I could not keep up with because she partied too much. In both instances these women mounted incredibly aggressive social media campaigns that attacked my mental health.
Attacking an individual’s mental health is how unscrupulous people try to malign people’s professional reputations nowadays. This is the last frontier that the "Political Correctness Police" have failed to regulate. Nowadays you would be crucified for publicly undermining a persons business relationship on the basis of social class, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity. But, it is still kinda, sorta, okay to attack an adversaries mental health. What makes these attacks particularly insidious is that you cannot measure a person’s mental health. Mental health is subjective. These attacks boil down to one persons word against another’s.
Having had my mental health attacked very aggressively and very publicly twice since 2014 I have learned from experience that these "tone deaf" individuals often disappear shortly after. Their politically incorrect, "tone deaf", aggressive, social media campaigns become fodder for dinner party banter years later. They make for interesting campfire stories but mount to little more. These attacks are annoying. I have likened them to having an angry wasp buzzing around my head, but - they go away with a little time and patience. They have become an unwelcome and inevitable part of doing business in the lower echelon of Vancouver's fashion and entertainment industries.
