No one would ever accuse Game of Thrones of being too brief. As the HBO fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin's novels has continued, and the story has gotten thornier by the minute and battles have received the kind of production values reserved for blockbuster movies, the running times of episodes have expanded.
Those looking to luxuriate in all the twists and turns (and surely at least one beheading) of Game of Thrones' eighth and final season premiering April 14 and finishing May 19 will be rewarded. HBO has confirmed the lengths of various season-eight episode, and they're beasts. The finale in the six-episode run, which will finally (hopefully) settle all questions about how to defeat the Night King and who's going to take the Iron Throne, won't even be the longest in Game of Thrones history at one hour and 20 minutes long.
That title goes to episode 3, which is two hours and two minutes long. We'd bet good money that it will focus on the giant, cinematic battle to keep Westeros out of the White Walkers' icy, undead control. But with this show, anything's possible, including an extended incestuous sex sequence with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
