Roberto Jose “Bert” dela Cruz Nievera has passed away in Las Vegas, USA at the age of 81. He is the father of legendary Filipino singer Martin Nievera.
Martin announced the news on his Instagram page Tuesday, attached to an old photo of his father giving him a haircut when he was young.
"'You gave me life, you gave me dreams, you gave me a haircut.' I will never forget you Dad! I love you!" he said.
"I can't believe you're gone. Life will never be the same again," he added. The Concert King also used the hashtag "#RobertinParadise."
Bert Nievera was a renowned balladeer in the 1970s and 1980s, with his albums "Nievera," "Sumasainyo, Bert Nievera," and "Nievera Remembers."
He was also part of the performing group "Society of Seven," which staged shows in various parts of the United States.
Meanwhile, Martin’s former wife, Pops Fernandez, also took to social media to express her sadness over the death of her “second dad.” "To daddy bert nievera.. my second dad... may you rest in peace... so saddened to hear this news... thank you for all the beautiful memories... ???????????????? condolences to the nievera family,” Pops posted.
