Tacloban cited in Gawad Parangal

The cooperative office of Tacloban City was recognized at the Gawad Parangal 2017 as the National Best Performing Local Government Unit-Cooperatives Development Office under the Highly Urbanized Cities Category.

The Tacloban City Cooperatives Development and Livelihood Assistance Office (CCDLAO) also received the citation from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) last year.

The cooperative office of Tacloban City was recognized at the Gawad Parangal 2017 as the National Best Performing Local Government Unit-Cooperatives Development Office under the Highly Urbanized Cities Category.

The Tacloban City Cooperatives Development and Livelihood Assistance Office (CCDLAO) also received the citation from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) last year.

“It is my vision that all Taclobanons will have available resources to further their development, both personally and professionally. The City Government is here to help and extend  assistance through ouir cooperatives,” said Tacloban City Mayor Cristina Gonzales Romualdez.

The CCDLAO was recognized along with Leyte National High School Multipurpose Cooperative, third place Best Performing Cooperative (Medium Category).

“This recognition became possible with the efforts of Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez who provided funding for the cooperative movement in the city which enabled the Coop Office to implement programs and extend technical assistance to local cooperatives,” said CDLAO Chief Ruena Mate.

Tacloban City has 52 active cooperatives with a pooled asset of P3 billion, employing more than 200 Taclobanons.

Tacloban was chosen by the Selection Committee with Senate Cooperatives Committee head Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, secretaries of government departments implementing programs for cooperatives, and the National Cooperative Federation.

The Gawad Parangal 2017 Search was held at the Makati Shangri-La, Manila in Makati, Metro Manila on October 27.
