It’s being treated as a terror attack. Police in Brussels have shot a man suspected of being a would-be suicide bomber after a “small explosion” went off at the Belgian capital’s transportation hub at 8:30pm local time.
Local media quoted prosecutors as describing the suspect, who was killed by police, as wearing a rucksack and suicide belt. No other injuries were reported. Belgium has been on high alert since March 2016, when 32 people were killed in a devastating double attack on its airport and subway system claimed by the Islamic State.
