In celebration of the founding of the Erehwon Art Council in November last year, the Erehwon Center for the Arts’ “Tugtog at Sayaw sa Erehwon 2018” showcased performances by four artistic groups under the art council

The Erehwon Dance Scholars, the Erehwon Rondalla, the Erehwon Chorale, and the Erehwon Jazz Orchestra performed during the yearender cultural event that celebrated dance and music held at the Tanghalang Behn Cervantes in Quezon City.  

Fresh from their successful first dance concert in November, the Erehwon Dance Scholars performed “Pasikat na Baso,” “Binuyugan,” “Tinikling,” and “Karatong.” The dance performance was accompanied by live string instrument music rendered by the Erehwon Rondalla, the newest addition to the Erehwon Art Council’s fold of artists.

The Erehwon Dance Scholars, composed of students from Batasan Hills National High School and Bagong Silangan High School in Quezon City, are mentored by trained folk dancers Dante Ballesteros, Roldan Bonifacio, and Janet Amor.  

The audience was also treated to a night of Christmas carols by the Erehwon Chorale, which is composed of college students from the University of Manila, trained under the guidance of mother-and-son duo, Mary Anne and Armand Joseph Villanueva. 

The crowd was then eased into a more festive groove through the night with soothing live music from the Erehwon Jazz Orchestra. 

The center also brought a piece of “Fiesta Folkloriada 2018” to Quezon City, with the Ryu Dance Company from South Korea performing the opening number for the show.  

Erehwon Center for the Arts chairman and chief executive Rafael Rivera Benitez was joined by Erehwon Art Council members Chinggay Lagdameo, Bonifacio Ilagan, Neil Doloricon, Edgar “Egai” Fernandez, Pablo “Adi” Baens Santos, Antipas “Biboy” Delotavo, Jose “Al” Giroy, Jun Vicaldo, Boy Domiguez, Eghai Roxas, and Jun Impas, in hosting the event.
