Boracay’s back

Our country’s pride, the world-famous tourist destination Boracay, is now open to the public after it was closed by the government for a six-month environmental rehabilitation.

Tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Environment secretary Roy Cimatu, and Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde led the opening of the now spotless shores of Boracay on Oct. 26. The island is ready to welcome only 6,405 tourists per day, as per the new guidelines.

Despite ongoing construction work around the island, many hotels and resorts, which are allowed to reopen, are now offering deals for visitors aching to frolic on the pristine white sand and take a dip in the crystal blue waters of Boracay.

Award-winning resort Discovery Shores Boracay is one of the 157 hotels and resorts that are allowed to accept tourists on the island.

Following an extended hiatus, Discovery Shores Boracay is raring to reopen its doors with a special and irresistible homecoming rate. Valid until Dec. 31, with a stay period of Oct. 30 to March 31 2019, guests can stay in a Junior Suite, inclusive of breakfast buffet at Sands Restaurant and roundtrip Caticlan Airport transfers for two for only P11,000++.

Coinciding with the rehabilitation efforts on the island, Discovery Shores Boracay has also been quite busy sprucing up the property, with refurbishments done in all guest rooms for a fresher, modern, yet inviting look to delight guests. Similarly, the popular dining outlets of the resort: Sands and Indigo were also given a makeover, along with the front office reception area.

Further, the Signature Suites offer new levels of luxury never before seen or experienced on the island, bringing unique services and unparalleled experiences to the island’s most discerning visitors.

With its reopening, Discovery Shores Boracay introduces an all-new dining outlet called Forno Osteria that serves scrumptious Italian fare in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere as well as a rooftop lounge that offers breathtaking views.

Return guests and loyal patrons will also be pleased to know that the warm, familiar, and attentive staff that has taken extra care of them each time will all be there upon reopening after they were momentarily reassigned to other Discovery properties to allow them continuous employment. The Discovery Group said no jobs were lost throughout the island’s closure.

Discovery Shores Boracay is accepting reservations for stays in November onwards. For more details, call the Manila Sales and Reservations Office at (02) 720-8888, 719.6692 to 6695 and 6697 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
