The Calling lead singer Alex Band visits Asia exactly three years after he was abducted, beaten and left by the train tracks in Michigan the morning after the band made their comeback in a music festival.

“Time to move on,” the 35-year-old singer said, adding that he is excited to visit Asia for the first time.

“If there is any chance we would like to perform too,” he continued.

The Calling, known for its modern-day classics “Adrienne,” “Our Lives” and the chart-topping hit “Wherever You Will Go,” recently named the #1 Adult Pop Song of the Decade by Billboard, split up after its second album, when guitarist Aaron Kamin left the group.

“Since I was already pretty much doing everything on my own, I decided to become a solo artist,” shared Band. He did a “supergroup” album project with RCA, encompassing no less than five co-producers, going through a reorganization after a year, with Band’s manager for 10 years passing away, many negotiations and a sizable amount of his own money to buy back the album master.

After all his financial and emotional investment in this music, Band decided to spend the last year creating his own label, with a top-flight team and a new record company to distribute the album in the States and release it in other territories.

“I’ve finally got creative control, which is the main reason I went through all this. So now I’m starting completely over as a solo artist and reintroducing myself to the world,” Band posted in his Facebook account.

Band’s title song, “We’ve All Been There,” is about his own struggle, which he thinks everyone can relate with. His single, “Tonight,” was used in the series The Vampire Diaries and can be heard in the TV campaign for the World Cup. “Love” was written in the early stages of Band’s relationship with his former wife who went through medical problems which the couple dealt with throughout the years. “Leave (Today Is the Day)” is the last song Band added to the record, after he had a divorce.

As written in his FB page, “It’s safe to say the world will be overjoyed to have Alex Band back.” ETONLINE MANILA
