‘VIRTUAL KITCHEN CLASS’: Jolly feeds home-cooking passions

FOR those who enjoy eating and love to cook, there’s no better, albeit easier, way to explore and share common food interests than connecting online. To feed these passions, JOLLY Food Line opened up a “virtual” kitchen class where home cooks, foodies, and aspiring food entrepreneurs alike can learn the different aspects of food and cooking together.

Developed by JOLLY Food line and hosted by award-winning Chef Mitchie Sison, “The Jolly Show” is a fun, interactive online venue for food lovers, home cooks, and aspiring momtrepreneurs to share cooking experiences and common interests in the kitchen. Piloted in May, “The Jolly Show” is a monthly-themed, full-live cooking demo on Facebook with each kitchen session featuring special guests joining the actual cooking demo and Web discussions.

“We want to engage our loyal consumers whom we regard as our most valuable brand ambassadors. We designed the cooking show that way because we want to reach out to a wider audience and to make their participation much easier. Taking into consideration the limited time and demanding schedules of our target audience, and with most mothers, home cooks, and aspiring at-home food entrepreneurs turning to the Internet to search for easy-to-follow recipes or cooking tips, JOLLY took the initiative to develop its own online platform where food fans can simply log in, watch, and learn many quick and creative recipes to cook for their families and also for start-up food business,” said Marilou ‘Bey’ Acuña, Fly Ace Group Category Manager.

Each cooking episode is done in a simple and comfortable manner. The recipes are very easy to follow and straightforward. The show’s flow is concise yet rich in vital information especially on the health benefits of JOLLY canned fruits and vegetables.

Through this format, JOLLY fans and viewers from all over the country can join the sessions and learn right in the comforts of their homes and their free time. Along with a live comment box, viewers instantly become part of a vast online cooking community.

“With just a tablet or smartphone in hand, even those from remote locations in the provinces can conveniently take part in the fun,” added Acuna.

Apart from fueling one’s cooking aspirations, The Jolly Show also serves as a viable online channel for those who seek extra income via online food business, just like momtrepreneur Leah Cantos who guested in the September episode on No-Bake Special Desserts.

“I really loved the recipes, and how easy it is to follow the procedures. With the Yuletide season fast approaching, moms who want to earn extra can really use the recipes. I believe that through accessible learning portals like The Jolly Show, momtrepreneurs like me and their families will benefit,” said Cantos.

Through the live online cooking format, JOLLY was able to present itself as a reliable canned brand that takes well-loved Filipino classics into a whole new enjoyable level.

“Their trademark is really taking on classic local recipes and putting their twist to it. In terms of the quality and versatility of the canned products that they have, JOLLY adds more color, more texture, and of course more new flavors to a classic dish without changing it entirely,” concluded Chef Mitchie.

The JOLLY show online cooking sessions and live discussions are open to all social media-savvy participants. Simply visit the Jolly Eats page on Facebook (@JollyFoods). For those who cannot participate live, recorded cooking demo videos and recipes are posted on Jolly Eats on FB, Twitter and Instagram (@jollyeatsph).
