NEW YORK CITY -- Social media like Facebook appears to be the most favorite platform of many candidates gunning for major seats in the Philippine elections on May 2019.
Just like in the 2016 elections, many candidates relied heavily on the social media to propagate their programs and further tell their “friends” who they are and what are they capable of doing more once they are elected or reelected.

Tacloban honors the elderly

A series of events was held in Tacloban City to honor its elderly residents in observance of the Elderly Week on October 1-7.
A region-wide “Walk for Life” kicked off the celebrations on September 30. Sponsored by PHILHEALTH, Department of Health and Deparment of Social Welfare and Development, participants walked from the DSWD Office to Leyte Park Hotel to advocate elderly healthy lifestyle, regular exercises such as Zumba and walking, and nutritious food intake and supplements for elderly persons.

200 Las Piñas, Pasig urban farmers finish KSK gardening school
Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Batches 173 and 174 recently completed their urban farming and gardening training courses at Las Piñas City and Pasig City, respectively. Each batch had 100 participants.
A harvest festival at the demo farm in Barangay Talon IV, Las Piñas City was attended by guests from the barangay government, SM Southmall representatives, Savemore M. Alvarez, SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Macondray Plastics Products Inc.

NEW YORK CITY -- The recent game of musical chairs in the Iloilo City Council, where several councilors allied with Mayor Jose “Joe III” Espinosa III lost major committee chairmanships, shouldn’t be considered as an earth-shaking event.
With the advent of election campaign for the May 2019 polls, the discord among Iloilo City aldermen was but natural, and, to some extent, necessary.
