Tacloban continues rescue operation

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) of Tacloban City continues its rescue operations after a landslide due to heavy rains caused by the tail-end cold front experienced in the entire Eastern Visayas on January 13.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) of Tacloban City continues its rescue operations after a landslide due to heavy rains caused by the tail-end cold front experienced in the entire Eastern Visayas on January 13.
The rescue team retrieved two bodies separately from the Barangay 43-B (Cong. Artemio Mate Ave.-Rizal Ext.) Quarry District landslide site in a three-day Search & Retrieval Operation led by CDRRMC Chair Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez.
 
“It’s difficult but we are doing our best. I salute the resuce team for not giving up despite the risky task,”  says Mayor Romualdez.
 
The bodies were identified as Delia Carson and Zoe Hernandez. The team continues to search for two more missing bodies identified as “Alex” and the Barangay Secretary, mother of Hernandez.
 
The landslide caused a concrete wall to collapse and has affected eight houses.

The Rescue team were composed of volunteers coming from the Tacloban Rescue Units (TACRU) - City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC); City Engineering Office (CEO); TOMECO; Bureau of Fire Protection Special Rescue Unit (BFP-SRU); Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) –Engineering Battalion; Chamber Fire Rescue Unit; Delta Green Rescue Unit; Delta Orange Rescue Unit; UNTV Rescue Unit; United Medics; other rescue groups and amateur radio organizations.
