Born and raised in Canada, but with pure Filipino blood, Marilou Catanjal does not forget her roots. In fact, she is excited to come home in September next year and will be staying in the Philippines until February 2018.

Besides taking a well-deserved break, Marilou is eyeing to do a project in the Philippines.

“I want a reality show about a Canadian musician recording a song in the Philippines and the fans can follow our journey. Or a hilarious dating show like Bachelor!” says the 27-year-old singer, songwriter, and booking agent.

But for now, Marilou is busy with preparations for the release of her music video in April 2017, doing photoshoots and meetings here and there, and making sure press releases come out locally. She is also planning to release the album globally through iTunes but will focus more on doing shows around Canada and the US.

She will also release her fourth single with a music video third quarter next year before she goes to the Philippines.

Showbiz is in Marilou’s blood, some even say she was born with it. She has been a singer since she was 5 years old with a very strong voice. However, she had a foot problem when she was little, always tripping on her feet and falling. The doctor advised her to dance, but her mother could not afford to have Marilou take both singing and dance lessons so she took ballet and hip hop for 15 years instead.

“Through the years though I have joined many singing contests and dance shows. Everyone says I can command a room,” shares Marlou, who is proud of having sang “Oh Canada” when she was 15 in front of more than 30,000 at an NBA basketball game.

“I was not nervous at all. I loved it,” she recalls.

Inspired by her parents, Marilou also established MC Entertainment Inc.

Marilou keeps her body fit by working out with her personal trainer thrice times a week for two hours each set, then swimming after for an hour. She also practices Bikram Yoga two or three times a week. To relax, Marilou meditates, prays, swims, and gets a massage.

The single Marilou is the life of the party. She enjoys being in the entertainment industry.

“It’s the only way to connect with my fans. My music, my social media, I love them all so much and it fuels my purpose to give hope to everyone in this world. I need to be famous to speak kindness in the millions!”

Marilou is also a very spiritual person. She says she feels God is preparing her for a big 2017 to live out His message to His people.
