GLOC 9, Kakai bring down the house

VANCOUVER, CANADA - Multi-awarded hip hop artist GLOC 9 and Ms. Pure Energy Kakai Bautista brought down the house at Massey Theatre, New Westminster, British Columbia when they performed for a huge crowd here, many of them Filipinos.

“Awesome experience,” said Pinoy Rap Royalty’s GLOC 9, who wowed his fans with his poetry in rap. GLOC 9 is known as a highly gifted wordsmith who weaves his lyrics around social injustice, the disturbing OFW world and the misplaced and disposessed LGBQT community.

The late Francis Magalona called GLOC 9 the “Blacksmith of Pinoy Rap” and “True Filipino Poet,” but the humble Aristotle Pollisco offstage would rather be known as “Alalay ng Hari” or King’s Handler.

Kakai, the Gary Valenciano of female artists, was on turbo mode as she belted out high altitude songs including Broadway hits and Regine Velasquez covers.

“We are very thankful sa inyo sa mainit na pagtangap sa amin dito sa Vancouver,” said Kakai.

GMA’s Pinoy Pop Superstar and first runner up of Birit Bulilit Jona Viray proved she is the “Birit Princess” with her rendition of high notes songs. She called the concert “unforgettable.”

Vancouver’s local artists Nina Bernabe and Nori Pizzaro also earned praises from the audience. Channel 4 though the 13-year-old Nina has a bright future in the industry and invited her to perform. Pizzaro did OPM jamming and was also invited to showcase his craft on Channel 4.

“Di naman kami kumita but the dream of bringing him [GLOC 9] here to perform is already more than I dreamed of,” said JJ Sarmiento, one of the producers of the concert, who is a big fan of GLOC 9 since he was 11 years old.

The show was hosted by Marvin Gaye singer and Motown celebrity Robbai and produced by Funtastic 5 Productions with its media partner ETONLINE Manila, Philippine Chronicle and Filipino Star Magazine
