A Filipina who took a short vacation to visit family in the Philippines suffered a heart attack and is now seeking help to go back to Canada for medical care.

Crisanta Sampang was brought to a specialized cardiac hospital in Manila and was scheduled for surgery to implant a stent. Further evaluation revealed that she actually needs open-heart surgery, a far more serious procedure.

Sampang did not have any travel health insurance and so her husband, Daniel Wood, contacted MedEvac Canada and settled on an emergency medivac strategy. Sampang’s daughter Catherine, who has medical training, flew in from Seattle and will accompany her mother on a 14-hour flight to Vancouver under MedEvac Canada’s guidance on March 20.

The story was posted by Filipino Manny Abuel on Facebook and quickly spread. The family is facing huge medical expenses and needs help. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Contact Daniel at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
