Fresh from their upset victory over 4th World ranked Australia in the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma, USA, the Blu Girls beats 3rd ranked Canada in the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia. The score was 6-2, Blu Girls over Canada.

Fresh from their upset victory over 4th World ranked Australia in the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma, USA, the Blu Girls beats 3rd ranked Canada in the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia. The score was 6-2, Blu Girls over Canada.

This is the first time the Philippine Blu Girls defeat the highly ranked Canadian team. Sky Ellazar, a Fil-Am from Maryland faced assistant coach Victoria Hayward playing for Canada. Ellazar had to face Australian Olympian Stacey porter in Oklahama.

Cheska Altomonte, BG Catcher, powered a homerun. Cheska is on a roll as this is her  third consecutive  homerun since Oklahama.  Cheska was on top of the leaderboard scoring 2 Runs Batted In(RBI). Garie Blando had 2 whopping RBIs too while Decker H and Gilmore D had one each.

Pia Macapagal was the opening pitcher while Sierra Lange was the closer.

The batting leaders were Decker H at .667, Ellazar Sky at .500 and Gilmore D, .333

The Blu Girls play against Taipei today, their nemesis for the much coveted spot in the Tokyo Olympics. This Canada Cup does not count to the olympic qualifying game. This is just a tune up game.

Team Manager Ismael Jun Veloso is proud of the 5 new additions to the team including the “Maryland Pride,” Sky Ellazar. Sky is a Filam and a superstar in the Maryland softball circuit.
