Man walked up to toddler playing on a front lawn, say police

RCMP in B.C.'s Shuswap region are asking for the public's help in locating a man who may have tried to abduct a toddler. 

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning outside a home in the 4000 block of Malakwa Road in Malakwa, a small community near Sicamous, B.C.

A woman told police that her three-year-old child was playing on their rural front lawn when she heard yelling. When she looked up, there was a man with a small dog or puppy standing about three metres from the child..

According to police, the woman called the child to her, while the man took his dog and drove away.

The man is described as white with short, thinning blond hair, between the ages of 40 and 45, driving a black, late model Lincoln sedan with a B.C. license plate.
