It’s all systems go for the staging of the Pampanga Fide Rated Open and Kids Chess Tournament which will unfold Jan. 5, 2019 at the Marquee Mall in Angeles, Pampanga.
The one-day chessfest is featured two division tournament, an Open and Kids category 13 and under, according to tournament organizer Jose Fernando "Fer" Camaya.

Titled "Handog Christmas sa Mga Philippine Chess Masters," the one-day chessfest is organized by Chess Circle club founding head at president Leonardo "Nards" Jimenez at vice president Exy Perez and will serve as a Christmas treat for all chess masters of the country (NM, IM, FM, GM).
Novelty Chess-Club President Sonsea Agonoy was awarded as the champion of National City Chess Club 2018 Grand Prix in National City, San Diego, California, USA. Tie for 2nd & 3rd Southern California and Las Vegas Champions/awardees Joel Quiba and Ben Barquin.
The Bacarra, Ilocos Norte native Agonoy got $373 for his effort.
FIDE Master David Elorta emerged the winner of the one-day tough Chess Circle Club-All Masters Rapid chess tournament which concluded last Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the second floor Activity Hall of Alphaland Makati Place in Malugay Street, Makati City.
Elorta, a habitue of Tarrasch Knight Chess Club in Guadalupe Mall, collected 6.0 points to win the seven-round tournament going home with the top purse of P10,000 and “Eugene Torre Trophy” in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament organized by Chess Circle Club International founding head/ president Leonardo "Nards" Jimenez and vice president Exy Perez in close cooperation with Asia's First Grandmaster Eugene Torre, Lea Bautista and Alphaland Corporation which attracted 26 country's chess masters.
