MANILA, Philippines---Franiel Magpily of Makati City won the  Baby Uno Chess Challenge dubbed as Frontier Wheels 13 years old and Below kiddies online chess tournament on Saturday, November 7, 2020.


Magpily  finished with 41 points in 17 games for a win rate of 65 percent and performance rating of 2278 to win the event that drew players from four countries (Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia).
The event was presented by Lichess Battle Arena, organized by Bayanihan Chess Club and backed up by Arena International Master (AIM) Wagish Kumar Rai of Frontier Wheels in cooperation with Brainy Chess Academy.
The online tournament had time control of three minutes with an increment of two second and players must win as many games in one hour and 30 minutes of play.
Magpily won 11 games, drew 5, and lost one games for his aggregate score and the P1,000 top purse.
Arnel Mahawan Jr.of San Rafael, Bulacan took the second spot with 37 points on 17 games and a win rate of 71 percent on twelve wins, two draws and three loses for a performance rating of 2147 and the P600 second place price. In third place is Angelica Joy Dimalanta of Santa Rita, Pampanga who had 35 points in a tie with Jace Oliver Fortin of Olongapo City but was given the third spot with lesser games of 14 against the latter’s 18.
Alex Tan of Singapore finished fifth with 31.
Allan Gabriel Hilario of Manila and Ivan Travis Cu of San Juan City finished sixth and 7th with 29 and 27 points, respectively.
The 8th-10th spots were taken by John Dave Lavandero of Cebu City, Arena Grandmaster Christian Gian Karlo Arca of Davao City and Farihah Nur Aisyah Binti Mohd Azman of Malaysia, , who all had 26 points but their placement was due to their win rates.-Marlon Bernardino-
