P20,000 winner-take-all match: GM Darwin Laylo seeks revenge vs GM Joey Antonio By Marlon Bernardino

Grandmaster (GM) Darwin Laylo says he is ready for war when he goes up against Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. in the P20,000 winner-take-all match on June 7, 2020 (Sunday), one pm at the Lichess arena.


The San Roque, Marikina City resident Laylo is out to avenge his setbacks to Antonio (2.5-6.5) during the fight for the ages hosted by Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe, executive director of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines under the leadership of it’s chairman/president Rep. Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr.


“This time I will not disappoint my fellow woodpushers” said Laylo, one of the top player of the multi-titled Philippine Army chess team.
“He’s a great player so we expect a tough matches,” said Antonio, who is fresh from winning the NM Zulfikar Sali Blitz chess on Tuesday.
Sportsman Kim Zafra, a gaming consultant in Europe added another P10,000 to double the pot prizes of P20,000.
“Let’s get ready to rumble,” said Zafra, a chess enthusiasts.


Zafra alongside Mr. Jimmy Reyes, Mr. Danilo Ebao and Pretty Zada Skincare Products also hosted the 1st Baby Uno chess challenge invitational online chess tournament on May 29, 2020 (Friday) with Antonio and Laylo heading the list of participants organized by Bayanihan chess club led by Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Marlon Bernardino and Mr. Genghis Imperial.-Marlon Bernardino-
