International Master Paulo Bersamina settled for a draw with Grandmaster John Paul Gomez after 21 moves of Catalan Opening to create a three-way tie going to the last two rounds of the 2019 GM Rosendo Balinas Memorial Cup chess championship (Grand Finals) being held at the Activity Hall, Second Floor Alphaland Makati Place in Malugay Street, Makati City.

Bersamina, 13-time Philippine Open champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. and Grandmaster Darwin Laylo tied for the lead after Round 13 with 10.0 points each in this Single Round-Robin Standard time control tournament jointly organized by National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) director Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe and Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) president Dr. Jenny Mayor and backed up by engineer Antonio "Tony" Carreon Balinas, US based Joe Balinas, Singapore based Nur Rose Balinas and Alphaland Corporation.

Antonio, our country's bet in this year's 2019 Bucharest, Romania World Seniors Chess Championship, defeated Kevin Mirano after 21 moves of French defense while Laylo outclassed National Master Carlo Magno Rosaupan after 30 moves of Kings Indian defense.

Rolly Parondo Jr. continued his impressive performance beating Michael Concio Jr. after 28 moves of Trompovsky Opening. Parondo now has 7.5 points, the same output of International Master Angelo Young and Sherwin Tiu. Young defeated Tiu after 35 movers of Pirc defense.

In other matches saw, International Master Ricardo De Guzman crushed Alfredo Rapanot after 36 moves of Kings Indian defense while International Master Chris Ramayrat halving the point with International Master Daniel Quizon after 53 moves of English Opening.-Marlon Bernardino-
