Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio "Banjo" Barcenilla Jr. defeated American Justin Paul in the final round to finish eight place in the 2019 US Open Chess Championship (Standard play) at Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida on Sunday.
The US based Barcenilla, a former Asian Junior champio, actually ended up tied for 4th to 13th places but was placed 8th overall after the tie break points was applied. He also finished 3rd place at the 2019 US Open Blitz Championship.-Marlon Bernardino-
